Join us for the annual AWC Ocoee Cleanup Trip & Volunteer Appreciation Grilling!
We invite local paddlers to help us cleanup one of the whitewater gems of the southeast. At times during the summer the Ocoee may resemble an amusement park, but no other river in the area runs as regularly and provides as much non-stop whitewater fun as the Ocoee. With the heavy use comes a good amount of litter and trash along the river. Each fall the AWC organizes a cleanup trip to take care of the river. Members are encouraged to participate, and of course we welcome non-members to join us!
This is an on the river cleanup with roadside support provided by Tennessee State Parks. Kayakers and canoeist will paddle their own boats and there will also be rafts to collect the trash and provide a way for paddlers of all skills to help with the cleanup (and have a lot of fun!). We have a few Ocoee guides who have volunteered to guide rafts, and Raft One Whitewater has donated use of rafts for the day. If you're not comfortable on the Ocoee yet or want to bring non-boating friends, then sign up for a rafting spot.
Afterwords, everyone will gather at Raft One Whitewater for a Volunteer Appreciation Dinner catered by Dam Deli and Diner. The party is BYOB.
Free camping is available for anyone who like to stay.
