Comments
There is a marked hiking trail which follows the bank downstream. Good for scouting the first major rapids about 200 yards downstream. There is also an informational sign next to the bridge showing putins and takeouts for the upper and lower sections of the Amicalola. River gauge is just upstream on the East Bank. 1.8 feet is the minimum for running the upper section. Upper section is class 1-11 at normal water levels. Lower section is III-IV at normal flows but larger drops can be portaged. 200 yards downstream from put in is a series of class III-IV drops. Scout from large rock outcropping in middle of river.
