Directions
Take I-75 or US 41 north to ST 20 to Rome, GA. Take a right onto Loop 1(bypass around the north side of Rome). Turn right back onto ST 20. Go 19 miles and turn right onto ST 35 and drive 15 miles to the river. There is a parking are on the left just before the bridge to view the falls and check the old painted bridge gauge.
River Access
Suicide/Avalanche - Scout and put in at the parking area if you want to run the 53 foot drop. If not cross the river and take the first left. Stop at the first parking area just below the falls.
Upper 2 Class IV- V Follow the directions above an proceed until you find a boulder splitting the road. Just beyond this on a turn to the curve to the hard to find your first time to the river
Chairlift - Class III - IV Follow the directions above an proceed to the Chairlift parking area.
You can follow the canyon rim road to the takeout at Canyon Mouth Park, however, the road is winding and slow. The quickest way is to back track to RT 35 and head towards Rome. Take a right at the four way stop, ST 273 and continue to Canyon Mouth Park.
