EDGAR M. JOHNSON, Jr. of Murphy, NC died Thursday, July 29, 2004.
Mr. Johnson was previously a long-time resident of Raleigh, and the son of Edgar M. and Annie Lee Johnson, who preceded him in death. Edgar graduated from Broughton High School in 1950 and subsequently entered the U.S. Navy and served as a Hospital Corpsman. Following his Naval duty he attended and graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1960. Following a period of employment as a pharmaceutical company representative, he followed his aspiration to build a business of his own in the N.C. Mountains near Murphy. For over 35 years he was a resident of Cherokee County and the owner/operator of the Circle J Family Campground.
Ed is survived: by his loving wife, Pat; a sister, Dorothy "Dot" Ann Winecoff of TX and NC; brother, Donald "Don" W. Johnson and wife, Patricia of TX and NC; sons and spouses, Johnny and Regine Johnson of Bluffton, S.C., David and Carolyn Johnson of Fresno, CA., Steven and Terrye Johnson of Raleigh, N.C., Scott Johnson of Myrtle Beach, S.C. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Pace, Seth, Annie, Matthew, Noah. His son, Patrick Edgar Johnson, preceded him in death.
Funeral Services were held on Monday, August 2, 2004, followed by his burial at the Mount Moriah Cemetery, Murphy, NC. Memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, C/O Ms. Sue Graves, 751 Weece Rd., Murphy, NC 28906.
